Locals businesses that make a difference
One of the ambitions we have at XL Biking is to promote and uplift local Swedish businesses, specially cycling ones. To be honest, this is hasn't been easy work. It is definitely not a given for many business to be inclusive, celebrate diversity, and serve every customer well independently from gender, sexual identity or expression, ethnical group, religion or another faith, sexual option, and special needs - rights secured by law. We are still far from seeing all types of cyclists represented in the media, commercials, marketing campaigns, and even further from seeing cyclists of all shapes and sizes represented and fully cooperating with cycling brands R&D teams and/or product development teams.
Our work goes beyond the figures and statistics, it is all about the people, real people! And, one of the best things that happened to us in 2020 was to be in contact with the wonderful people of Medevi Sport! We asked the founders, Helena and Bengt, a few questions so our community can get to know them and Medevi a little closer.
Why do you work with Medevi Sport?
What makes it fun to work with Medevi Sport is the chance to meet all these fantastic people, from those who cycle to work or leisurely to those who embrace big athletic challenges such as Vätternrundan, Vansbrosimningen, Göteborgsvarvet half marathon, USA coast to coast, and alike.
The appreciation, energy and love we get from our customers is worth the world to us. Often times when they complete a challenge they come looking for us to give us a hug and thank us for our advice and good products!
It's priceless to receive a hug and comments like: "thanks for awesome products! You've saved my Vätternrundan!" or "Thank you so much it worked exactly like you said!". This kind of feedback from our customers is heartwarming!
Since we burn for cycling we appreciate our partnership with Vätternrundan and the Medevi Chamois Cream or "RumpRäddaren" (Literally "ass saver") which became the official chamois of the event. We also get a lot of energy from the hundreds of massagists who work with us during the entire event at the control points. They provide advice, give service and support to all participants.
What feeling do you want the customers to have when using your products?
I want the customers to feel secure in the fact that together with our products they will have the best possible combination to complete the challenges they've decided to participate in or even to achieve that special personal goal. A feeling that helps them strive for maximal performance. And, there is the fact that all our products are 100% ecological and pakcaged in sustainable packs of bioplastic and recycled materials. We want to give the customers a nice feeling indeed, in all aspects!
Please talk freely about Medevi's ethos, work ethic and philosophy.
We work with useful products that thanks to their right contents and function really work. They are supposed to work with your skin and support the skins own function. Another important factors are our methods of production, natural resources and the packaging. We work with focus on sustainability, resource-effective production, ecologic ingredients and reusable or recyclable packages.
We are also criterious when choosing distributors in order to reduce unecessary transportation and our carbon footprint. When choosing distributors and partners we make sure they share our values in regards to sustainability and fighting agaisnt childlabor and for fair trade, and so forth.
Long story short, we strive for optimizing functionality through sustainable and ethical methods. One of our goals is that those who work with us will be able to help according to their own possibilities. We have several employees with special needs and with varying physical and psychological abilities - everyone gets to help and feel meaningful!
Why do you support XL Biking?
Cycling is a nice activity and cycling is for everyone! Ebbe's and XL Biking's philosophy are in full accordance with ours here at Medevi Sport. Vi all have different starting points and backgrounds, it's so much better for everyone if we all support and encourage each other. It is right for XL Biking to set the tone for a more inclusive and tolerant approach in the cycling culture. One may think this should be an obvious thing, but we are still far away from a society in which we accept each other just as we are. So, for these and other reasons it feels logical and obvious to support XL Biking!

At the Medevi Store you will be able to see and try our entire range of ecological skin products, and we assure you you'll find something just for you. We have the chamois cream, sports ointments, and all sorts of facial products, body lotions, hand and foot creams, mild soaps, massage oils, lipbalm and more! You find all the information you need on our webpage and you can also order there as well. Come during the summer months and you will be able to taste our delicious all-natural ice cream. We have even natural hairbrushes, supplements, teas, chocolate, energy bars and much more!
The Medevi well is the oldest health well in Scandinavia, founded in 1678. It is a perfec stop all year for those who need to stretch their legs when driving in this part of Sweden, a bit North of Motala. It is also the starting point of a nice hiking trail on the Östgötaleden which cuts through our area and has several other smaller trails here.
If you're interested in history there are several museums to visit such as the pharmaceutical museum, the hospital museum, and also restaurants. The Medevi Brunn Orchestra plays daily at the park during the summer. On summer evenings we have the traditional Grötlunken (The porridge walk) guided by the orchestra. What can I say? There's something for everyone here at Medevi!
